Piriformis Muscle

Deep hip muscle, can cause sciatic nerve compression.

The piriformis is a small muscle located deep in the buttock, connecting the sacrum to the top of the femur. When tight or inflamed, it can compress the sciatic nerve, leading to pain, tingling, and numbness down the leg, a condition known as piriformis syndrome. Massage can help release tension in this muscle.
